ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ 700 ਕਿਊਸਿਕ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ 1200 ਕਿਊਸਿਕ ਵਾਧੂ ਦਰਿਆਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਪੰਥ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਤੇ ਉਹ ‘ਆਪ’ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਦਰਿਆਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਚੁੱਪਚਾਪ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਕ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖੇਗਾ।

Data from Statistics Canada shows that the number of overseas residents to Canada nearly doubled, reaching 281,400 in March 2023 while this number was 148,900 visitors last year in March.

While travel to Canada is still below pre-pandemic levels, the StatCan report released Tuesday reveals that Canada is making significant progress welcoming back tourists, having achieved approximately four-fifths (81.13 per cent) of the pre-pandemic levels of overseas visitors during the same month in 2019.

When it comes to the origin countries of overseas visitors to Canada, data from March 2023 shows that over two-fifths (114,700) of arrived from Europe, up from 68,800 in March 2022 and reaching four-fifths (83.7 per cent) of the level seen in March 2019.

Of the total overseas visitors 72,400 of them came form Asia, over half (58.5 per cent) of the number of arrivals in March 2019.

The Bank of Canada highlighted early signs of financial stress among Canadian households as one of the key risks in the financial system. The unprecedented increase in interest rates has raised the costs for households, a vulnerability if a recession were to occur.

“Elevated interest rates and declining house prices have reduced the financial flexibility of many households,” reads the bank’s Financial System Review released on Thursday.

Due to the increased expense of servicing mortgages, homebuyers have relied more on credit card debt, which has exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

“We’re going through a transition to higher interest rates, higher interest rates than what people got used to and along that transition there are some risks,” said Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem during a press conference in Ottawa on Thursday. “It’s important that we are vigilant through this transition.”
